An internship, open to students from diverse backgrounds, is being offered at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in partnership with the Souls Grown Deep Foundation. This part-time professional experience at a leading art museum during the academic year includes a trip at the outset of the internship to visit the Foundation in Atlanta and the artists and communities it serves in the Southeast. The excursion will be scheduled for a weekend in January 2019.
The duties of the internship will be closely tied to an upcoming exhibition of works recently acquired by the Philadelphia Museum of Art from the Souls Grown Deep Foundation. Under the supervision of the exhibition’s curator, the intern will assist with researching and writing exhibition content, developing an exhibition design, planning public programs and special events, and other related tasks.
This internship is designed for students interested in exploring professions related to museums and the visual arts. Priority is given to rising juniors and seniors at accredited undergraduate programs.
Applications are due on November 1, 2018. The five-month internship, offering $5,000, will begin in January 2019 and conclude in May 2019. Interns are required to commit to a minimum of eight hours per week, which ideally would be met through two four-hour work days per week.
