Working under limited supervision, these individuals ensure the safety and security of our building-from staff to the precious art collection. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as with a team of support staff and will have demonstrated supervisory experience.
Specifically, you will:
- Monitor building access, CCTV, and emergency response systems located at all museum locations
- Be responsible for the timely and accurate reporting and completion of documentation related to reportable incidents
- Oversee a security team responsible for ensuring the protection of people and art work at the museum
- Perform other duties as assigned
Your background and experience include:
- A track record of success with analysis, problem solving, and decision making in a cooperative and coordinated planning environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of emergency response and building security systems including access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection is a must.
- Computer proficiency – what work above is this referring to?
- A high school diploma or GED
- At least 2 years related security experience in a similar setting.
- Previous supervisory experience in the security and protection services industry is preferred.
Position and Compensation Details
- The minimum hourly rate for this position is $19.00.
- This position is full-time, non-exempt, and 40 hours per week.
- This position requires a varied schedule including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts.
- This position reports to the Director of Protection Services
- Physical requirements:
- Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus.
- Must be able to perform the essential duties of the role for the entirety of the shift (up to 8 hours)
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to work at all museum locations.
- Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
