The department of Interpretation, a part of the Division of Learning and Engagement at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, seeks a part-time Administrator of Digital Interpretation (two-year term). Charged with the task of making art engaging and accessible to broad audiences, the department oversees all interpretation initiatives for special exhibitions and the museum’s permanent collection and is situated at the intersection of art, content, and visitor experience.
Reporting to the Head of Interpretation, the Administrator of Digital Interpretation (two-year term) maintains and produces digital interpretive content, primarily for the Bloomberg Connects platform. The Administrator will work with the Head of Interpretation to develop a content plan for the platform and will manage the ongoing upkeep of existing content on the platform. The Administrator will also oversee the building of new tours and may assist with the creation of new content.

Specifically, you will:
- Manage the Bloomberg Connects platform, working with other teams to ensure that information about the museum, featured artworks, and featured exhibitions is up to date
- Build new tours and pages in the Bloomberg Connects platform
- Work with the Head of Interpretation to develop an ongoing content plan for Bloomberg Connects
- Assist in the development and documentation of policies and procedures related to PMA’s use of the Bloomberg Connects platform, including a style guide, image policies, data reporting, and records schedule for archiving
- As needed, assist in the creation of new content such as audio tours, multimedia features, and exhibition pages for the PMA’s guide on Bloomberg Connects
- Ensure smooth communication and collaboration between the different internal staff and departments working with the Bloomberg Connects platform
- Assist in developing and refining plans for on-site signage related to Bloomberg Connects, as well as pre- and post-visit messaging
- Manage the regular collating of data about usage of Bloomberg Connects and other digital interpretive tools, and the distribution of this data to relevant stakeholders
- When possible, support the planning and development of other digital interpretation tools at the PMA, such as videos, in gallery interactives, and other types of engagement related to content
- Perform other duties as assigned
Your background and experience include:
- Experience working with digital content management systems. Direct experience with Bloomberg Connects is a plus
- Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills
- The ability to coordinate and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously and to work independently on assigned tasks with little direct supervision
- An enthusiasm for collaboration and relationship building among staff and stakeholders
- Proficiency with MS Office, and the ability to learn other content management systems as needed
- Previous experience working in museums or similar settings is preferred
Position and Compensation Details
- The hourly rate for this position is $19.59.
- This position is Part-Time, Non-Exempt, and 21 hours per week.
- This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.
- This position reports to the Head of Interpretation
- This position is required to be performed fully onsite at Philadelphia Museum of Art locations.
- This is a 2-year term position, ending August 31, 2027
- Physical requirements:
- Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
- Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
