How You Will Contribute
The Senior Director will be a key member of the Advancement team, responsible for leading all aspects of institutional funding, including corporate, foundation, and government support. The Senior Director collaborates with Museum leadership to identify funding opportunities and work closely with corporate, foundation, and government partners to secure funding that supports the museum’s exhibitions, programs, and initiatives. The Senior Director will work in close collaboration with colleagues across Advancement, Marketing, and Program teams to elevate the museum’s fundraising and engagement efforts.

How You Will Contribute
The Senior Director will be a key member of the Advancement team, responsible for leading all aspects of institutional funding, including corporate, foundation, and government support. The Senior Director collaborates with Museum leadership to identify funding opportunities and work closely with corporate, foundation, and government partners to secure funding that supports the museum’s exhibitions, programs, and initiatives. The Senior Director will work in close collaboration with colleagues across Advancement, Marketing, and Program teams to elevate the museum’s fundraising and engagement efforts.
Specifically, you will:
- Lead institutional fundraising efforts, identifying, cultivating, and securing funding from corporate, foundation, and government sources.
- Oversee institutional fundraising revenue goals, tracking progress and adjusting strategies as needed to meet annual and long-term objectives.
- Develop and lead a proactive strategy to grow corporate sponsorships for special exhibitions, programs, events, and community initiatives.
- Work closely with the Deputy Director & CAO and Advancement Leadership Team to set multi-year engagement and fundraising goals, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Oversee corporate partnerships, including benefit fulfillment, reporting, and renewals, ensuring strong engagement and value alignment.
- Serve as a key liaison between Advancement, Finance, and programmatic teams to ensure seamless execution of institutional grant and sponsorship agreements.
- Supervise and mentor a team responsible for corporate sponsorships and institutional fundraising.
Your background and experience include:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in a advancement leadership roles, preferably within a cultural or nonprofit organization.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful fundraising growth and retention strategies.
- Experience in securing and managing corporate, foundation, and government funding, including grant writing and stewardship, preferably at the six- and seven-figure level.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing staff and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Deep knowledge of donor databases, CRM systems, and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
- Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with corporate and institutional partners.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in budget management and revenue forecasting.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Passion for arts and culture, with a commitment to advancing the mission of the institution.
Position and Compensation Details
- The salary for this position is $175,000.
- This position is Full-Time, Exempt and 35 hours per week.
- This position reports to Deputy Director & Chief Advancement Officer
- Physical requirements:
- Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
- Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
